Roy C Swofford

Master Sergeant Roy Clayton "Tiny" Swofford USMC was born January 20, 1926 in Ashford, NC and died June 16, 2007 at the James Quillen VA Medical Center, Mountain Home, TN. Roy had made his home in Erwin, TN. After serving in the Merchant Marine during World War II, he served 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps and participated in the Korean and Vietnam wars. Roy was the former owner of Swofford Refrigeration and Air Conditioning in Erwin. He was a board member of the Appalachian Christian Services Camp and a member of the Watauga Chapter of Historical Railroad Society. Full military honors were provided by Tennessee Army National Guard. Roy was a member of the 2nd platoon, First Provisional Demilitarized Zone Police Company. 

MSgt Swofford is buried at: Evergreen Cemetery, 1100 Seventh Street, Erwin, TN 37650
